The month of August comes bearing some good news for the residents of Jharkhand. There are chances of monsoon revival in the State and it is being predicted that it will again be active from August 4 onwards.
“A low pressures system is likely to form over north- west Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas. Under the influence of this system, monsoon is likely to be active again in Jharkhand from August 4 onwards,” said Senior Scientist, MET Observatory Centre- Ranchi, Dr. RS Sharma.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, light to moderate rain or thunder showers is expected at many places on August 4. However, from August 5 wide spread rainfall activity of light to moderate category is expected at most places. There are also chances of heavy rainfall at isolated places on August 5 and August 6. During this week, cumulatively normal rainfall activity is likely over the entire State.
“A new rain bearing system is approaching and it is expected that the rain fall deficit of 38 percent is likely to improve by about 5 to 10 percent in the coming days. Because of weak easterly wind, not much rainfall activity has occurred over the State. The stronger the easterly component, higher will be the moisture component thus causing an increase in the rainfall activity,” added Sharma.
According to the weathermen, this spell of rainfall will fulfill the requirements of the agriculture sector to some extent.
For Jharkhand cumulative rainfall from June 1 to August 2 was 334.5 mm against the normal rainfall of 540.7 mm causing a deficit of 38 percent over the whole state. As on August 2, out of the 24 districts in the State, only three have received normal rainfall while the remaining 21 have had below normal rainfall activity.
