Migrant workers contribute a great deal in strengthening the wheel of the country's economy. But today their future is in darkness. There is a need to formulate concrete policy by the Central and State Government for the welfare of migrant workers. Their welfare should be seen as a big topic. Because, workers are constantly being deceived and cheated,” said CM Hemant Soren in a webinar organized on the subject -- Decoding India's internal migration here on Friday.
The CM said that Jharkhand is a mineral-rich State. “There is more migration problem in the mining affected areas, because the land there does not remain cultivable. In such a situation, helpless workers have to move out. I strive for the betterment of the workers of the State. In the upcoming Budget, work will be done to increase the purchasing power of the people. This work will be focused on rural areas, so that the problem of migration can be reduced to some extent,” he said.
The CM said that during the Corona infection period migrant workers were left on the streets. But, the State government has discharged its responsibility. “The State worker died during the disaster in Uttarakhand. It is painful. The State government tried to help by releasing toll-free numbers for the workers trapped in the disaster. Today in a local newspaper, there has been talk of workers being held hostage in Tamil Nadu. Workers are being exploited in an organized manner,” he said.
Under an agreement with the BRO by the state government, the workers of the state were sent for the road construction in the border region of the country. Earlier workers used to get less remuneration for work. Work was done by the State government to provide appropriate remuneration and other facilities for them, he said.
