Attack on jeweller's family: Son killed

PNS

Chunnu Soni, a small jeweller in Harihurganj market of Palamu, stands devastated. His eldest son Anurag (12) succumbed to injuries inflicted on his head with a sharp weapon by an unidentified criminal on Tuesday night in his house.

Soni’s wife Annu, another son Anup and daughter Nandini all have head injuries and are now battling for their life in a hospital in Varansi after being referred from CHC Harihurganj to Bihar’s Aurangabad to Sasaram to finally Varansi.

There was no external injury on body of any of the four including one now dead said DSP Chhaterpur Shambhu K Singh.

The entire episode of knifing was discovered at 8.30 last night April 24 when Soni after shutting down his jewel shop was going upstairs home in his own flat when he found his wife, sons and daughter in a pool of blood.

According to SP Indrajeet Mahatha forensic experts have been called in from Ranchi.  He said sniffer dog has also been pressed into action. The case would be solved by all means SP assured.

Irate residents of Harihurganj blocked NH 98 for a couple of hours throwing inter states traffic out of gear. SP Palamu has heard the version of Soni details of which are not immediately available.

Soni’s house has no CCTV camera nor is there any eye witness except Soni himself who saw the 4 in a pool of blood.

DSP said that loot of household property  is not the prime motive as except for one brief case which was found opened  and its articles scattered the other articles of the house were intact.

Personal enmity or vendetta to eliminate the entire family of Soni prima facie looks the strongest motive behind this forceful and brutal bid on the lives of the four said DSP. Soni has 8 flats in two blocks and in one of his 8 flats he and his family lives which has just two rooms and in one room this attack cum death later occurred.

DSP said they asked Soni’s tenants living in 4 of the eight flats as to how such a big tragedy occurred and none of the tenants saw anything or heard any cry for help to which quoting tenants DSP said the tenants showed apathy saying noises from Soni’s house every day/ every evening were most common and Tuesday evening’s noises April 24 were treated by them for the same and so they did not bother at all to find out as to what happened.

Two teams one of ballistic and the other of biological have arrived in Soni’s house to make a dent in this case added SP Mahatha.
