Annapurna seeks reply for Hemant's jibe

Peeved with repeated remarks made by Chief Minister Hemant Soren at various occasions expressing his inability to deliver under coalition compulsions, RJD leader and Water Resource Minister Annapurna Devi on Monday sought an explanation on the issue. Annapurna has asked Soren to name the person who is creating hurdles in the way of development and not supporting the government.

“The Chief Minister has to clear whether the Government is lame, dumb or deaf….who is not supporting the Government and who is not with him on the issue of development. Name of the person creating hurdles in the way of development must be revealed by the CM,” said Annapurna.

The Chief Minister, at a public meeting on Sunday in Chaibasa, termed his Government as lulhi and langari. “It is like a vehicle running with wheels borrowed from tractor, tempo and bullock cart,” he had commented.

The Congress, another coalition partner, however, played down the issue, saying the CM’s remark was a generalized statement about the Governments formed in the State during the last 13 years with the coalition of various political parties having different priorities and agenda.

“I had a talk with the Chief Minister on the issue and he said that it was a generalized statement about all the governments formed earlier in the State in alliance with different political parties, generating difficulties in day to day co-ordination on the issue of development as all have their own agenda and priorities,” said State Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on the other hand, strongly condemned the statement made by Annapurna questioning her authority to seek explanation from Soren on issue. “Do we need to seek permission to make statements before our party workersIJ She could have raised the matter before the coordination committee instead of making a public statement,” said JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya.

According to Bhattacharya, Soren had made the statement while addressing the party workers. “He had said that proper development could not be brought until there is a majority government in the State. He had also said that it was difficult to run the government smoothly as there was no pre-poll alliance among the coalition partners,” Bhattacharya said.

Meanwhile, the CM’s remarks prompted the Opposition to criticize the government and seek resignation from Soren.

“Why is Soren continuing if he is not able to run the government for the public welfareIJ He should immediately resign from the chief minister’s chair,” maintained JVM chief Babulal Marandi.

Marandi said that Soren was trying to generate sympathy for himself by blaming his coalition partners for the failure of his government. “But people are not so foolish. They will seek explanation for his every misdeed when he faces elections,” he pointed out.

“This government is being run on a single agenda of minting money. Otherwise it would have fallen like a pack of cards on the day it was formed,” said former speaker and BJP leader CP Singh. “The CM is right when he said that his government was lulhi-langri and he must be congratulated for running it for so long,” he ridiculed.
