After luring established political leaders of Jharkhand into its fold the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is now likely to bring star campaigners known to have certain degree of influence on public for campaigning in elections. likes of Anna Hazare, Imam Bukhari and actor Mithun Chakraborty will campaign for its candidates in lok Sabha elections.
The party will contest lS elections from Ranchi (Bandhu Tirkey), lohardaga (Chamra linda) and Dhanbad. Notably, name of candidates for remaining constituencies is likely to be declared by Wednesday evening by the party’s central leaders at Kolkata. “They (Anna, Bukhari) will campaign for the party however their schedules is not yet decided,” said Mandar MlA Bandhu Tirkey. Several Ministers in the Mamta Banerjee-led Government of West Bengal are also likely to take part in the election campaign. The TMC as a part of their poll preparations will organise a conference of workers on March 13.
Interestingly, the TMC which is yet to give shape to its organisational structure in Jharkhand has been advised by recently joined leaders of Jharkhand not to consider forming alliance with any party in the State. The party has put its organisation restructuring in the State on hold till the lS election gets over. “We have asked party high command that the only way of agreement with other parties should be through merger with the TMC,” pointed out Tirkey.
Incidentally, the outspoken leader also indicated that after the lS polls the party may consider withdrawing support from the JMM-Congress led coalition Government however the time to pull out of Government will be Mamta’s call. “Mamatji will take decision on withdrawing support (from the Government),” concluded Tirkey.
