Anjali Kumari, the deserted ex-Chairperson of Hazaribagh Municipal Council and District President of Women cell of BJP, kept her flag high in the civic polls this year. She defeated her old rival Champa Devi by 6,616 votes and once again captured the seat of Chairperson of Hazaribagh Municipal council.
Anjali was a candidate supported by BJP while Champa Devi was enjoying support of Congress, JVM and AJSU.
The whole campaign of Anjali was centered upon the injustice with her during last tenure and she was continuously appealing the voters to give her justice.
Ex-acting president cum elected Vice President Manish Jaiswal, central committee member of JVM and his father BK Jaiswal, treasurer JVM central committee cum district board chairman tried their best to defeat her by going beyond party line, but people rejected their efforts.
Yashwant Sinha, MP Hazaribagh, who had announced the candidature of Anjali on March 25 was in jubilant mood today. At Atal Bhawan in a PC, he thanked the voters for their judicious verdict and hoped that with the support of elected ward councillors, Anjali will give her best to the citizens of Hazaribagh.
Just after declaration of results, in her first reaction Anjali told The Pioneer: “Today, I have got full justice. last month, the Almighty god has given half justice by making the ex-acting chairman just a spectator in this election and now the ‘Janta Janardan’ has given final justice in my favour.”
With Yashwant Sinha and a large number of BJP workers, the newly elected chairperson Anjali Kumari reached the counting centre and received the certificate from DC Dr Manish Ranjan. SP Manoj Kaushik, SDO Rajeev Ranjan, DDC Dibar Joko and other officials were also present.
Today is the first day of Chaitra Navratra and the famous Ramnavmi of Hazaribagh also gears up from today, but it was looking like the festival of colors Holi everywhere. In each ward processions of winning candidates and their supporters were dancing on the tune of dhol and tasha.
The results of civic poll 2013 speaks clearly that the Ex-Councilors who worked passed the election exam while those whose performance was not satisfactory failed. Out of 32 only 16 succeeded in retaining their seat. The result also cleared it that the voters are mature enough now and they chose the candidates on the basis of their performance, behavior, background, educational qualification, personality and politeness.
As expected the women changed the picture of the municipal council this time. Out of 33 seats 14 were reserved for women but 19 women got elected this time which is more than 50%.
