Disaster Management Department in collaboration with United Nations Development programme organised a workshop on various aspects of disaster management to sensitise the anganwadi workers on Wednesday. Approximately 60 anganwadi workers from different urban setup participated in the workshop.
District Disaster Management Officer, Manoj Singh informed, “With the aim to sensitise anganwadi workers and make them aware about the consequences of various types of disaster management and risk associated with it, we are providing training to grassroot level workers. As these workers work at ground level covering maximum people, it becomes mandatory for us to make them aware about disaster management and more importantly, various safety measures associated with it.”
Most of anganwadi workers, who were present in the workshop, informed that they are not well versed with the techniques of tackling the disaster management and to act immediately to combat the situation.
The disaster management workshop focused on various basic aspects like types of disaster, impacts and disaster management cycle. “Before any formal training to an individual, it is important for trainees to know about disaster cycle. The disaster management cycle includes response, rehabilitation, prevention, mitigation and recovery procedure,” added Singh.
