Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Saturday announced that all Anganwadi sevikas will receive cycles in the FY 2016-17. He said that the Government is working hard to address all the issues concerning sevikas. Das was addressing the 7th National Convention of Akhil Bhartiya Anganwadi Karamchari Sangh organised at Birsa Munda Bhawan at Sidgora.
It may be that last year Das had approved Rs 5 crore for the purchase of cycles to be distributed among the Anganwadi Sevikas working at Aanganwadi Kendras and ‘laghu Aanganwadi’ Kendras being run under the Women, Child Development and Social Security Department in the State.
A total of 35,881 Aanganwadi Kendras and 2,551 laghu Aanganwadi Kendras are functional in the State.
Addressing the gathering Das assured that the task of distribution of cycles will be completed by this year. Each Anganwadi is being provided with a cycle for smooth and fast movement of the workforce at the grassroots level.
Sources said that 21,786 Aanganwadi Kendras will be supplied with cycles in this financial year.
He further said: “From May 2 children of Anganwadi centres will get eggs to arrest malnourishment among kids between 3 and 6 years. In the first phase in Ranchi, Dumka and East Singhbhum districts from May 2 the diet will be given before extending it to the rest of Jharkhand in coming days”. Das added that Anganwadis can play a major role for holistic development of children. He also motivated sevikas to take benefits of Jeevan Jyoti Insurance Scheme.
