Agitating group of over a 200 students on Sunday under the banner of the All India Student Association (AISA) brought life at Kathara chowk to a stand still for a couple of hours protesting against the abduction and killing of 20-year-old college girl and police’s failure in tracing accused Prabhat Singh Pawar.
The agitators, including representatives of KB College in the Bermo and members of AISA, started in a procession from the KB College Jarandih that culminated in a meeting and dharna at the square and a simultaneous blockade on all the connecting roads.
The demonstrators were demanding immediate arresting of main accused Prabhat Singh Pawar. The girl was recovered from his house in unconscious state and died on Saturday during her treatment at Ranchi.
The 20-year-old college girl was reported missing since the morning of January 10 as she was on her way to Ranchi.
Search had made by the parents proved futile and at last the girl’s father had lodged an FIR with the police station alleging kidnapping on his daughter. The police remained clueless till the day the girl’s body was recovered from house of Pawar.
