State BJP president cum MP Deepak Prakash ahead of Madhupur bypoll has urged the para teachers, contract personnel, home guard jawans, assistant policemen and newly selected high school teachers of the State to launch an agitation against the State government over State Government’s failure to fulfill its poll promises. He said that contractual workers should launch a protest against the State Government, which came to power by making false promises.
Prakash said that the Congress and JMM came to power by making false promises to the people of Jharkhand, but after coming to power the JMM/Congress alliance have failed to meet people's expectations. “What happened to those promises made to the Panchayat Secretary, Para teachers, contractual workers, Home Guard personnel, assistant policemen, newly selected high school teachers,” Prakash questioned the State Government.
During the budget session of Jharkhand Assembly, the para-teachers had announced to gherao chief minister’s residence to press for regularisation of their service and proper pay scale.
The state government had recruited para-teachers in 2000 for running government schools and offered them a consolidated monthly salary. After four years, those teachers started demanding regularisation of their service and proper pay scale. Last month, a large section of the 65,000 para-teachers had gathered near the Assembly in batches and demonstrated for five consecutive days.
Similarly, last year over 2,500 assistant policemen and women camped at Morhabadi ground for months to press for their demands which included regularisation of jobs, increase in honorarium from the existing Rs 10,000 per month and allowances at par with regular policemen.
The assistant police personnel were hired on contract basis in 2017 on monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 by the former BJP government headed by Raghubar Das. They were then assured permanent reinstatement gradually. However, after their contract period ended in August 2020, their contracts weren’t renewed by the JMM-Congress-RJD government. However, later, the assistant police personnel called off their agitation after the Hemant Soren government agreed to extend their services for two more years and promised to look into their remaining demands.
Prakash urged the state government to fulfill its promises, failing which the contractual workers will throw out the JMM/Congress government. He also expressed his solidarity to the agitation of newly selected high school teachers, panchayat secretary and others. He said if the government fails to fulfill the demands of contractual workers its impact will be visible during Madhupur bypoll.
In Madhupur bypoll there is a direct contest between JMM candidate and minority affairs minister Hafizul Hasan and BJP Ganga Narayan Singh.
