Authorities in Garhwa do not seem to have any idea about the number of unrecognised private schools running across the district and the number of students getting education in such schools. About 200 schools, without affiliation from the District Education
Office, run in both the urban and rural areas. Besides, nearly all such schools run in rented houses and grossly lack sufficient infrastructure needed for the overall development of the students, said sources. District Superintendent of Education Brajmohan Kumar said that there are 96 private schools are running in the district, out of which only 18 recognised private schools. While 78 private schools running unrecognized.
The DSE informed that he served the notices to all such private schools to file application for recognition. But only 40schools filed application have been filed, in which only 15 schools found fit to recognition.
He, however, confirmed that the quality of education and availability of infrastructure were negligible in such schools. “Such schools are like shops and people are running them in their houses,” he added.
