Mukesh Soni, the second shooter and fourth among the five who killed PIl complainant Sunil Pandey, was remanded in judicial custody on Monday evening, said DSP Heera lal Ravi.
Speaking to the Pioneer Ravi said ' Sunil Pandey was killed in day light on 8.12.2015 on NH 75 when he was sitting in a hotel. Pandey had filed a PIl with Jharkhand High Court. His murder led everyone to jump to the conclusion that he was a whistle blower and so he was murdered'. However Ravi hastened to add the killing was in no way related to his PIl in the court of law.
DSP said five were wanted in this murder case. Three were caught and jailed earlier and now on August 1 the fourth one Mukesh Soni has been caught and sent to jail adding Ravi reiterated ' Pandey's murder was not even distantly related to his PIl rather he was bumped off by his own people for his alleged wrong doings against them
Sources said Pandey had in his PIl alleged a deep seated nexus between officers of civil administration police administration and the extremists where in these three were amassing wealth by all foul means.
Sources further reminded that Pandey was shot dead the day his case was to come up in the Jharkhand High Court Ranchi.
Ravi said police have recovered one pistol of 7.65 bore with two live cartridges.
Pandey's murder had even raised the eyebrows of many police officers across the state who too were made to believe that he was a lid lifter of the police naxal nexus but on the first detection and discovery of this murder case things began to go against the deceased more than anything else as the deceased had cases against him and had filed cases against many others.
DSP Ravi said ' Just one more arrest in this murder case and and the case will be all final since right from beginning five were said to be behind Pandey's murder and now we have four of them behind the bars'. Soni is a sharp shooter and his second shot caused instant death to Pandey added Ravi.
