Recently created Hazaribagh division of vigilance department now known as Anti-Corruption Bureau trapped 19th corrupt Government servant of North-Chotanagpur division on Monday. Shiv Kumar Prasad, the panchayat sevak of Datokhurd of Tatijhariya block, the corrupt official. The team led by DSP Pran Ranjan also arrested the middleman Mahendra Yadav along with the Government servant.
Shyam Sundar Kumar, a contractor, had informed the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Hazaribagh division that Panchayat Sevak Shiv Kumar Prasad has demanded `50,000 for taking over the newly built Panchayat Bhawan of Datokhurd. He had constructed the panchayat building and was eager to hand it over to get his final payment released.
Since the State election commission had announced village local body elections so Mukhiya of Datokhurd panchayat refused to take the charge of newly constructed building and advised him to hand it over to the block officials. From the block he was instructed to hand it over to the panchayat sevak of Datokhurd, Shiv Kumar Prasad. After getting the complaint, vigilance officials first enquired the matter and then said the contractor to talk with the panchayat sevak and fix a date of giving him money. The contractor Shyam then started negotiation in which Mahendra of Datokhurd played an important role and finally the deal finalized on `20,000.
On Monday as per the deal Shyam Sundar went to Tatijharia block office and handed over the money to the panchayat sevak in presence of the middleman. As the money reached in the pocket of the government servant the members of vigilance team took him in custody and in front of almost all block office staffs confirmed that it was the chemical coated notes which they have provided to the informer. It all happened between 12 to 1 pm and then the vigilance team took them both in custody and returned to Hazaribagh.
