Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a massive chakka jam in Daltonganj forcing the private transporters to take off their buses, lorry and trucks from the NH 75 and 98 and other roads here on Saturday, paralysing the road traffic quite badly.

The ABVP were protesting against the high handedness of the public schools. The ABVP chakka jam saw the public schools declaring Saturday a holiday here on Saturday. The police maintained peace but refrained from detaining any activist. Guardians and parents, who have already bought books, shoes, uniforms, etc for the news session, joined hands with ABVP in this protest.

The ABVP had a point when it charged that if a public school has CBSE curriculum then why books of varied publications are forced upon the students. The ABVP further alleged that school buses are so stuffed that students sit cheek by jowl and find it difficult breathe.

The ABVP described this campaign as of public awareness as it understands that time has come for the parents and guardians to be up in arms against atrocious public schools. The activists shouted for an end on conversion in the name of education.

The ABVP demanded strict enforcement of RTE besides Government to enact Act like the one Delhi has brought in this connection. The ABVP further alleged that where the prices of petrol and diesel shows a decline the fare of school buses remain as static and high as ever.

The press release of the ABVP mentioned the participation of Prince Pandey Jyoti Pandey, Rajeev Ranjan Dev Pandey and others, Nishant Tiwary. A former ABVP leader Amit Tiwary who in the last assembly election contested the Panki seat on the BJP ticket here in Palamu also took part in this stir on Saturday.
