Bank account in a nationalised or private bank in few minutes is hassle free if you have an Aadhaar Card number. Visit the Khadi Mela at Morhabadi ground from Tuesday for this purpose. This account opening will not need the photocopy of identification card and a passport size photograph.
“We are talking with two or three banks to introduce this electronic Know Your Customer concept in this fair so that people can fulfill their basic banking need while they come to roam this fair. It just needs the Aadhaar number wherein the demographic details is copied from the Aadhaar card number of a person and a bank account is opened in few minutes,” said an official of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) of Ranchi zone.
The official added, “This is a latest banking concept. Most of the people are not aware about it so we decided to launch it in our stall of this fair in collaboration with state information technology department.”
The fair informally started on Sunday is known to showcase the grassroot skills of rural artisans across the nation is for the first time including such techno-savvy necessities. “People can avail on-spot ATM card here,” said an officer of state Khadi board. He added, “People can also apply for supply water connection in this fair.”
As many as 600 stalls from states like Jharkhand, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan have put up their stalls here. Officially the fair will be unveiled by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday.
“This is for the second time central government is organizing such a large scale Khadi fair with public utility stalls,” said an officer.To attract the state residents till January 11 the fair organizers will also be hosting fashion shows and Kavi Sammelans.
