India’s 75th Republic Day was celebrated at ESL Steel Limited with much nationalistic fervour and gaiety. The programme which started at 8:55 AM included an impressive Parade by ESL Steel Limited’s Security Department personnel followed by unfurling of India’s tricolour, Prizes distribution, and culminated with a motivating and invigorating short speech by Ravish Sharma, COO, ESL Steel Limited. Republic Day celebrations inside the ESL Steel Limited’s Siyaljori plant area marked participation of around 200, including those from the local communities and employees. The crowd was quite vociferous in their appreciation of the security personnel who showed their prowess and skill. Two coveted Prizes, totalling 43 were also awarded to Security personnel – 16 for their exemplary accomplishment of their duties and another 27 for their stellar performance during the parade.
In his address on the occasion Ravish Sharma, COO, of ESL Steel Limited stressed that Community Growth and Business growth go hand in hand. He stressed in his short highly motivating speech that ESL Steel Limited does not only produce Steel, but we are proud that we are also empowering the nearby communities for a thriving future of the nation. It has to date made 450 acres of land cultivable; has supplied 600 homes with portable drinking water; has created 2,150 alternative jobs; has provided 12,256 direct employments; has supported 11,374 students from nearby in education; and has provided basic healthcare facilities to 1,29,926 villagers from nearby. Further he ended his speech by thanking the over 500 security personnel who have always been very alert and excellent in their jobs and for practising for the parade well past their normal office hours.
