Palamu administration has sent a batch of 71students selected from Naxal boroughs in Palamu to Ranchi-based Tool Room for skill training.
Giving this information, the Deputy Commissioner of Palamu KN Jha said each of the 71 students will get Rs1.15 lakh for two years of training. The expenditures will be met with the fund under Additional Central Assistance, previously known as IAP (Integrated Action Plan).
The Commissioner further said the idea behind roping these students from Naxal areas was to make them self earning and not to get them drifted towards any destructive work.
However, he pointed out that there was no student from Naxal pocket like Pipra and added that it might be due to lack of publicity on this scheme or it might be due to reluctance of students to move out of their heath and hearth.
Out of 400 applicants, 123 were shortlisted but only 71 embarked upon the skill training. They were supposed to send in March or April but it was delayed because of the lok Sabha election.
The official further informed that the selected students were thoroughly verified whether they had any link with Naxal outfit.
Students from Kekargarh have joined the bandwagon for skill training which is a happy change in Palamu.
Kekargarh is a village where farmers grow poppy for opium and the Maoists turn their eyes away from it.
Every year police raided and destroy poppy plants and set on fire.
