The Garhwa police cracked down on illegal sand transportation and mining at several Koyal riverband ghats near Sundipur village under Kandi police station, on Thursday night.
The police seized three poclain machines, 66 trucks and one motorcycle during the raid.
The SP has suspended the officer in charge Kandi Asit Kumar Singh for alleged negligence. SP Sivani Tiwari formed a team led by SDPO Sameer Kumar Tirkey and Mining Inspector Sunil Kumar, who carried out checks and intercepted the sand-laden trucks at Koyal riverband near Sundipur village on Thursday night.
Drivers deserted the vehicles and fled.
The police have identified their owners and booked cases. In this regard SP has suspended the officer in charge Kandi Asit Kumar Singh for alleged irrelevance and negligence. It is second action against officer in charge who found dereliction of duty.
