The preliminary round comprises of 50 objective type questions which is supposed to be completed within 30 minutes. The total paper of 150 marks also carries negative marking.
“ The event is organised to promote the creativity among children. We have got not only city schools but schools across various regions who participate in the competition. We select limited city schools as all of them cannot be accomodated in the finals,” said Amitava Bakshi of the National Creativity Olympiad.
The finals of the Olympiad have a tradition of giving theme based competition where the judges judge the exact intelligence of the school children. The competition thus will help students learn by doing.
“Students enjoy participating in the Olympiad because they try and succeed. We have already got confirmation from 15 schools across the country. Students from classes VIII to XIII can participate in the Olympiad. The tasks are given to the students on the spot so that they don’t have time to decide and consult seniors. Whatever they do, they do it by themselves and that is how they learn their faults,” said an organiser.
