The Chatra district administration has identified 30,687 cases of suspicious and illegal land settlement in the district. In a special drive as per the direction of state government the district administration has directed the block officials to identify the suspicious cases as per records available in the blocks. The block officials have submitted their report to the lRDC and as per sources 85836.16 acres of land has been illegally settled in the district.
Now the lRDC and SDO will go through the reports obtained from different blocks and by 10th of August they will submit their report to the deputy commissioner. The deputy commissioner will take the final decision and after taking action he will send the report to the divisional commissioner by August 31 for approval.
As per sources the number of cases of illegal settlement of government land is from Hunterganj block of the district. About 35 per cent of the total land in suspicion is from this block. Notices have been issued to the concerned persons in 8001 cases having a total area of 21013.15 acres.
Tandwa block, where NTPCs super thermal power station and new coal mines of CCl are coming up, is on second spot. Here 16269.49 acres land has been identified as illegally settled to 1380 persons. Here too notices have been issued in all such suspicious cases.
As per the reports 7337 cases covering an area of 1755553 acres of land has been identified in Chatra block, 2119 cases covering 624739 acres of land in Pratappur block, 210 cases of 112233 acres in Kunda block, 1032 cases having an area of 371855 acres in Kandhachatti block, 541888 acres of land to 1140 persons in Simaria block, 1429 cases covering 421055 acres of land in lavalong, 446 cases of 63132 acres in Itkhori block, 379 cases covering 228187 acres in Gidhaur, 2805 having area of 604064 acres in Pathalkadda and 643 cases covering an area of 1326.16 acres in Mayurhand block is under scanner.
Notices have been served to all concerned persons and with this the district administration has started the process of cancelling the illegal settlements of government land which has created panic amongst those who had grabbed land by setting.
