In a tragic incident, three persons died at Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) stadium in Ranchi on Wednesday as they fell from the trolley during the ongoing maintenance work of high mast lights. They were taken to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where doctors declared them brought dead.

"Three people died as they fell from a trolley while it was being taken up for maintenance work on the high mast light at JSCA stadium, said DSP Hatia Shivendra. The three persons have been identified as Iftekhar Alam, Mohd Alim and Sajjad Khan, he added.

JSCA authorities also confirmed that the incident took place at around 3:30 pm after the lift of the high mast light failed.

"The maintenance work had been given to a contractor under whom these three labourers had been working. Suddenly, the lift of the high mast light failed due to which they fell down on the ground," said JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma. Immediately they were first taken to HEC Hospital from where they were referred to RIMS, but were declared brought dead in RIMS, he said.

"A meeting will soon be called to decide over giving some compensation to the family members of those who died in the mishap," said Verma.

Sources however, revealed that all the three labourers were employees of Valmont Structures India Private limited who had been assigned to change the cable of the high mast light and were going upwards though that cable itself by sitting on the lights. But the cable through which they were going up broke in between due to which they fell to the ground and suffered serious injuries.
