As many as 24 girls of Jharkhand, who were trafficked by one human trafficker about two months back, were brought back to Ranchi from Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday morning.

These girls including two minors are from West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan district. After their arrival at Birsa Munda domestic airport they were received by officials of Ranchi district administration. The administration later on sent them to Chaibasa so that they are repatriated to their family by the concerned district administration.

Twenty one of the 24 girls belong to West Singhbhum and three of them are from Saraikela-Kharsawan. Most of them are in their twenties.

Their rescue operation started on Tuesday night when they were airlifted in Chennai and taken to Delhi.

Narrating the ordeal faced by them they said that a person from Odisha who they referred as Sanjay Joko took them to Tamil Nadu. He misled them that they will be employed at a tailoring and embroidery factory for which they will get a minimum of Rs 12,000 as monthly salary.  But they were forced to work at a yarn spinning factory under inhuman conditions.

They were paid in between Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 as salary. They were forced to sleep on the floor. They said that at this factory there are over 50 girls working here and they are from Jharkhand.

They somehow managed to draw the attention of the State government besides NGOs.

NGOs PHIA Foundation and ASRA came together for their rescue and the move was supported by the Jhikpani unit of ACC Limited. Both NGOs raised fund worth over Rs three lakh.

The flight of Indigo airline was arranged in Coimbatore, which took them back to Ranchi via Delhi.

Now, the state government is planning to provide them education and the job opportunity. The labour and employment department is also mulling to take legal action against the tout and the company for promoting child labour and forcing others to work with underpayment as well as under inhuman condition.
