RDCIS, SAIl bags five Metallurgy awards
Ranchi: Functionaries of RDCIS, SAIl won awards in many categories during National Metallurgist Day celebrations on Sunday. RDCIS DGM Partha Bannerjee won Metallurgist of the Year award, Deputy Manager Somnath Kumar won Young Metallurgist Award, DGM In-charge (Iron) Dr SK Pan New Millennium Iron award and IIM Fellow Award for GM (Rolling Mills) PP Sengupta. RDCIS ED BK Jha received the National Metallurgist Award (Industry) on Saturday.
JPCC observes Birsa Munda birth anniversary
Ranchi: JPCC observed the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda at party offices on Sunday. On this occasion, the speakers stated that Birsa Munda was an active revolutionary during Jharkhand Ulgulan. The movement he started was later crucial in helping the people of Jharkhand establish their separate identity.
lions Club fundraiser for cataract operations
Ranchi: A fund-raising called Diwali Meet event was organised on Sunday by lions Club of Ranchi East. All the funds generated from this event will be used for cataract operations in Niramaya Hospital, Kokar, Ranchi. The event was attended by 300 members of the lion Club who enjoyed several interesting activities.
‘HEC Day’ observed on its foundation day
Ranchi: The Foundation Day of Heavy Engineering Corporation was observed as ‘HEC Day’ at Friendship Avenue on Sunday. Children of HEC High School, medical staff and professionals, HEC employees and others joined the ‘March for Introspection’ flagged off by HEC CMD Avijit Ghosh. The parade was accompanied by patriotic tunes from band of Cobra Training Centre.

Ranchi: The members of Chhatra Yuva Shakti distributed 101 blankets among the footpath-dwellers on Sunday. The drive was conducted on the birthday of head of the organisation Aniket Raj. The drive covered Station Road, Overbridge, Sujata Chowk, Albert Ekka Chowk and Kutchery Chowk.
