Two Maoists have been killed in an encounter in latehar district’s Barbani Dubyahi area on Saturday morning. The security forces recovered the bodies of the two ultras said to be part of Nakul —a group of CPI-Maoist. One woman cadre of the group has been arrested during the operation and has been airlifted for further treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences at Ranchi.
“The security forces recovered one 3.3mm rifle and one double barrel gun,” IG CRPF, R K Mishra, confirmed over the phone. The fierce encounter broke out at 2 am and continued for about an hour. Preliminary identification described the dead ultras as Anirudh Singh and Perween, however, police is still verifying their credentials. Mishra said, “A team of CRPF, latehar district police and Cobra was out in the night dominance in the Barbani Dubyahi area when the heavily armed group of CPI-Maoists opened fire. The forced retaliated and killed two of them.”
Sources said, the rifle, that was recovered, belonged to the police which at any point of time was looted by the Maoists. A double barrel gun was also found in the possession of fleeting Maoists. The place of the encounter is barely at a distance of 3-4 kilometers from the place where three relatives of a BJP leader and former chairman of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board were were assassinated by Maoists a week ago.
On being asked if these Maoists were a part of the deadly Jan Adalat which they had before gunning down the three relatives of a former Chairman of JSPCB, the IG CRPF said, “In all probability, the involvement of the Maoists in the Jan Adalat could not be believed.” The IG CRPF further said the security forces caught a woman Naxal, who sustained a bullet injury in her thigh. She has been rushed to the latehar hospital where she was given the treatment and subsequently air lifted for RIMS Ranchi for a proper and effective treatment.
