The ‘Jaina saints’, who normally believe in walking and moving round the year, do not stroll in the rainy season, instead they take shelter in a big shrine for four months to spend spiritual life and motivate their followers. This apart, they deliver lectures on different subjects during the period.
The entire activity of Jain communities that start from ‘Asarh Chaturdashi’ and end on Deepawali is termed as the ‘Chatur-mas’ (four months-long activity).
Altogether 151 members of Acharya Sangha (jain saints /Jain munees), including sadhu and sadhwi belonging to Digambar sect of Jain community, from different parts of the country have thronged at the world fame Jain shrine of Parasnath (also known as sammet shikharji / sammed shikharji) to participate in Chatur-mas starting from Thursday.
“As per our belief and faith, this four months is considered as the breeding season for various species especially, the reptiles and small animals that normally come out from their natural habitats and start moving in the road. Actually, the Jain munees do not want to cause any trouble for these tiny species during their holy journey. Hence, they often choose not to move anywhere. And hence, the saints including sadhus and sadhwi take shelter in any religious spot to organize a spiritual get- together. Meanwhile, they also perform noble activities including deliverance of lectures, motivational speeches and other such activities”, a representative from the Jain Society at Parashanath said adding that the main attraction of this chatur-mas is that Acharya Pramukh Sagar ji is offering a Laadu 2300 kg. These activities are being organized under the guidance of Pramukh Sagar ji Maharaj.
Punya Sagar Ji Maharaj, Pramukh Sagar Ji Maharaj, Prasann Sagar Ji and Srimati Mata ji are among other renowned acharya participating in chatur-mas at Parashanath.
Different functions under Chatur-mas, one of the highly important and spiritual days of Jain communities, were stopped due to COVID-19 pandemic for the last two consecutive years.
