The relatives of the victim said the boy was the only child of his parents.

"We are in state of shock and are reeling in pain. Jasbir had not gone to the school today (Monday) and had gone to Mango market for buying some household things," said a relative. The victim's father Jaspreet Singh, is a businessman.

Officer-in-charge, Olidih police station, Shusma Kumari confirmed that the boy was killed on being hit by a speeding mini-truck.
