In a six-year-old case of manhandling and torturing of a teacher of a school here, the ADJ III court of Hazaribagh announced its final order on Thursday. The court found all the eight accused guilty and sentenced all of them, including the president of the school, Vivekanand Central School of Hazaribagh, Swami Tapanand, to one-year jail term.
In 2011 a teacher named Savita Kumari of Vivekanand Central School had lodged an FIR against the president Swami Tapanand and seven other members of the school committee that they first locked her in a room for long time and then mentally and physically tortured her. The Sadar Police had lodged case no. 97/11 against all accused. later the case was transferred to the court of ADJ III where in this case which was lodged as State vs. Swami Tapanand and others trail no. 115/12 was going on since last about six years.
The case is related with another case which happened in the school some days ago of this incident. A student of Vivekanand Central School named Dhiraj Kumar was found dead and the role of a teacher named Sujata Kumari was found suspicious in it. Then along with thousands of denizens media persons also went to the school for reporting purpose but the school management not only used force to stop the crowd entry into school premises but also misbehaved with the media persons. In this case the most interesting fact is that the main suspect of that murder/death teacher Sujata Kumari is still absconding.
The school management took another teacher Savita Kumari in target as if she was responsible for the gathering of denizens and media persons. After a day of this incident school president and seven other persons locked her in a room and tortured her both physically and mentally.
As the judgment was announced and Swami Tapanand and others came out of court they started taking photographs. The fellows and followers of Swami Tapanand once again interfered and snatched the cameras of many media persons including the press photographer of the pioneer too. They were openly challenging the media persons that if they write anything against Swami Tapanand then they should be ready to face the consequences. Swami Tapanand runs schools and colleges in the town and always remains in controversies.
