Arjun Manjhi, son of Sitaram Manjhi, died in a blast that took place in an illegal stone mine running in Ichak block of the district on Saturday. The incident took place in the afternoon and at the time of filing of this report neither the police nor the officials of Forest Department were informed by the villagers about this incident.
According to sources in the Babhani hill area of Ichak block about a dozen illegal stone mines are running. In the afternoon Arjun Manjhi, aged about 35 years died in the blast.
It is said that Manjhi was running this illegal mine along with Ashok Singh and Gano Mahto of Ichak. One person is seriously injured but his name and where about has not been disclosed yet by the villagers. According to our sources attempt of solving the problem was going on in the village as meetings were going on there regularly after the incident.
