A programme was organised on May 10 for the construction of new buildings at the YSS Educational campus, Jagannathpur where Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha was the chief guest and main speaker. The project is part of the 125th birth anniversary of its founder, Paramahansa Yogananda and was initiated in the year 2018.
Harivansh, who was happy to be a part of the programme said, “The way Paramhansa Yogananda has made his influence from Bengal to Ranchi to entire country through his ideals stands true to the statement once made by a thinker who said that the way the west has ruined itself through its materialistic an consumerist tendencies, in the coming years it will receive a scholar from the east that will prove to be a light of hope for the west and will teach lessons of humanity to the entire humankind . His book ‘where there is life’ is a work of brilliance as nothing like this has been written before and imparts valuable knowledge regarding facing the problems life throws at us.
“Yogananda understood the challenge of motivation and depression and hence preached and stressed on the importance of life management. He is happy that the people studying in the new building will receive education about how to lead a happy life and will become guiding lights for the entire country. Yogananda’s efforts in showing the correct path with regard to life management are unforgettable,” he added.
The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, instituted a National Implementation committee (NIC) to undertake various programmes to honor and commemorate this event. One of these initiatives was to upgrade the infrastructure and facilities of the YSS educational institutions at Ranchi. Eight buildings and a complex 24 classrooms, with a total built-up area of 84,000 square feet will be constructed. The classrooms will have a design that promotes the way of learning encouraged by Yogananda.
Other people of importance who were present for the occasion were Swami Vishwananda Giri, a senior sannyasi and a Board Member of YSS, Swami Ishwarananda Giri, General Secretary of YSS, and other YSS sannyasis.
Swami Ishwarananda Giri said, “Yogananda’s initiative has come a long way as what started with 1 has grown to around 20 YSS Educational Institutions across India”. He also expressed gratitude to the Government for their benevolent support to the school.
