Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday said that during Covid wave there was commendable support for the mission for tribals, backwards, minorities and others. “If we look at the level of education in Jharkhand, the mission has contributed more than 50 per cent. Education is being imparted with discipline and respect in the Mission Schools and Colleges. Today Gossner College completes its 50 golden years, best of luck to all the students and teachers.

The result of good education being given here is that 27 departments and thousands of students are studying in the college. Teachers are playing a big role in shaping the children,” said the CM at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Gossner College as the Chief Guest.

The CM said that the backwardness of Jharkhand is suffering only because of lack of education. “Important steps have been taken by the government in rural and urban areas for better education in the State. Jharkhand was trapped in the Covid wave for the last one and a half years. Now, time is back to normal.

Education was also affected by this. Online classes have had positive and negative effects. This is a challenge for the kids. But, the fight against this epidemic in a State like Jharkhand is commendable,” he said.

The college was started from Bethesda School Campus with the aim of educating the minority community from 1st November 1971 during the time of unified Bihar. This college has now taken the form of 28 departments, more than 200 staff and 13000 students.

On this occasion, Kolebira MLA Naman Vixal Konagadi, Khijri MLA Rajesh Kachhap, GB Chairman Gossner College Johan Dang, Gossner College Secretary Dr. C.P.S. Lugun, Professor-in-Charge of Gossner College, Ilani Purti, Dr. Balbir Kerketta, and Department of History, officials of Ranchi University, Bishops and students of GEL Church were present.
