Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday said that providing uninterrupted power and clean drinking water is the priority of State Government. The CM, while holding a review meeting of Energy Department (Transmission), REO and Drinking Water and Sanitation departments, said that the consumption of energy has increased after providing 30 lakh new connections.
Therefore, he said that it is need of the hour to increase infrastructural facilities. “Schemes of transmission lines are being expedited. The Energy department will appoint a nodal officer for coordination between Forest Department and Energy department. The nodal officer will help expedite forest clearance processes. Work on those projects that have been already approved need to be started within 10 days,” he said.
It was said in the meeting that as early as the infrastructure is set up, people will get relief from problems. In the past four years many new transmission lines have been laid. This is the reason there is slight improvement in the situation of power supply in comparison with earlier times. After starting of new lines people will get immediate relief.
Those waiting for decades to get electricity have been provided electricity connections. Now, work will pick speed on providing them power 24x7. It was also said in the meeting that work is in progress on 15 new projects of transmission lines, out of which forest clearance has been given on five projects.
During the meeting it was directed to the concerned department to increase pace of work in providing drinking water to the people of the State. Santhal Pargana and Kolhan areas are facing acute water crisis, so department should focus in such areas. The department was also directed to focus on Primitive Tribal Tolas, Pahariya Tolas, SC-ST dominated villages.
The department officials informed during the meeting that out of 2,250 PVTG Tolas 1,026 Tolas have been provided drinking water. In Pahariya areas water is being provided through lift. Also, in non-tribal villages work is on to install water tanks at the sites selected by Mukhiya of the village. Under the scheme it has been aimed to provide water to every village by September 30. By December this year 50 big water projects of rural water supply will be completed. This will solve water issue to a great extent in Santhal pargana.
