Six officials of State Water Resources Department (WRD) including In-charge Chief Engineer BD Vaishnav and Executive Engineer (EE) M Kujur who had came under the net of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) were suspended on Saturday.
“The action has been taken as part of ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ adopted by State government on corruption,” Secretary, Irrigation Department, Ganesh Shankar Mishra told The Pioneer. According to him, in-charge EE of Kharang, Bilaspur, Alok Agrawal has also been suspended after ACB registered a case of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income against him.
Three sub-engineers including GR Dewangan, Abrar Beg and BKS Thakur were also suspended after similar case was registered against them by ACB, the Mishra said. “Generally what happened in the past was that when any person was found involved in such cases then he was given some insensitive post. However this time, while taking strict action, all of them have been suspended and attached with the head office,” the Secretary informed.
