Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday made it clear that he would not have any role in selection of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.
“This is not my job. Whatever the party directs, I would campaign accordingly for the candidates,” he said in a news conference here. Singh further stated: “I am meeting people directly during the Vikas Yatra and asking about their problems and complaints”. “We have catered to every section of the Society. However, still we are trying to solve the remaining problems of the people during the Vikas Yatra,” Singh said.
On the insurgency issue, the Chief Minister stated that the witnesses must be strong and should not back out in cases relating to Naxal violence. On the role of Third Front in Chhattisgarh during the forthcoming Assembly polls, Singh commented: ‘The role of Third Front would remain unchanged. Every time the Third Front garners 7 to 9 per cent votes during polls and it is expected that it would remain same this time round.”
