Woman wing of State Cong's working committee dissolved

SR

Signalling a revamp, the Woman Wing’s president of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC), Anita G Rawate on Thursday dissolved the party’s State Woman Working Committee.

The district-level and block-level committees will however be functioning as usual.

In a meeting held at the Congress Bhavan here, Rawate said that since she was appointed as the party’s State Woman’s Wing president just before lok Sabha polls, no change could be made in the Working Committee at that time.

“While forming the new Working Committee, a chance will be provided to the young and active party workers. ‘’Our primary focus will be on winning the civic body polls scheduled here by the end of this year” she said.

The State Woman Wing’s Chief said that the new committee will soon be formed. Rawate also indicated that changes in the district and block-level committee are likely in near future.

Meanwhile, Rawate wrote to the Governor of Chhattisgarh for his intervention in making security arrangements for woman in the State.

The senior Congress leader drew the Governor’s attention towards increasing incidents of crime against woman as the State has allegedly failed to curb the cases of domestic violence, rape etc, she stated.

Rawate also accused the State Woman Commission for displaying negligence in taking initiatives to curb crime against woman.

Besides, she demanded that a competent vigilance committee should keep regular check on the social organisations working to provide shelter and security to girls/women and prepare its three-monthly report, accordingly.
