The women power-lifting team members on Saturday met with Sports and Youth Welfare Minister lata Usendi and presented their allegation against General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Powerlifting Association Krishna Sahu of allegedly molesting them. The Minster assured them of every possible action in this case.
Talking with media persons after meeting with players Minister Usendi said that a letter has been released from his office for officials of sports department to start probe into the matter. The power-lifting players also reached Chhattisgarh Scheduled Tribe Commission with complaint against Sahu. Devlal Dugga Chairman Chhattisgarh Scheduled Tribe Commission talking with The Pioneer over phone said “we have heard the plea of women players and have summoned the accused persons. A notice has also been served stating the accused persons to present them before the commission by September 12,” Dugga said and added that the future course of action would be decided after hearing the counterpart.
Meanwhile Director Sports department Jitendra Shukla talking with The Pioneer said the department has also received complaint in this connection. “On first look into the case it seems to be offences that are required to be dealt under Indian Penal Code and we are preparing a letter for Superintendent of Police Raipur endorsing legal action into the case. Apart from it whatever irregularities are found in this case will be probed by department and accordingly action would be taken,” Shukla said.
However Krishna Sahu told media channels that he was totally innocent and the motive of this whole exercise is to break the association. “They want to finish us,” Sahu claimed. Earlier State Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Kedar Kashyap on Friday had directed Commissioner and Secretary of his Department to institute an inquiry and submit a report within a week. The players had alleged in a televised interview that Sahu has allegedly molested them after calling them in his room. They also alleged that Sahu also demanded a commission from the prize amount received by players besides allegedly threatening them that if they didn’t share the same, he would implicate them in a doping case.
