Woman kidnapped from mall: Cops accused of threatening victim's family

Staff Reporter

The woman who was kidnapped from City Mall 36 on November 16 has still not been traced by the police. Family members of the woman have expressed their fears that Ankita Shukla’s in-laws have killed her and disposed off the body.

“Ankita’s husband physically assaulted her and has even tried to kill her on a few occasions. We are sure that he and his family is behind the kidnapping,” said Anshu Shukla, Ankita’s sister, in her Press conference here.

Ankita was married to city resident Aditya Shukla, son of hotelier Arun Shukla on June 26, 2012. She complained that her husband misbehaved with her and physically assaulted her merely after a few weeks into the marriage, said Anshu.

Anshu also accused the police of threatening her family for dragging a ‘high-profile’ family into the case. However, Superintendent of Police OP Pal denied the allegations and said case has been filed against the kidnapping and investigations are underway.
