Three members of a family were swept away by strong currents while crossing the anicut in the Agar river in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli district on Thursday but only the body of a woman was found, police said.
Rameshwari Marawi (33) was declared dead while her husband Uttara Marawi (48) and their daughter Annapurna (8) are missing, Mungeli Superintendent of Police D.R. Anchala said. All three were residents of Bagbudva village. The incident occurred when the three slipped into the river. Rameshwari’s body was recovered but the bodies of the man and his daughter could not be traced till late evening, the officer said.
