Chhattisgarh Police on Friday seized 200 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 50 lakhs and arrested two persons including a woman in Mahasamund district who were transporting it to Raipur from Odisha.
Mahasamund Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girepunje told The Pioneer that they were Ganesh Majumdar and Laxmi Dulai, both from West Bengal.
The action followed a tip on Friday that the contraband was being transported via National Highway 53.
Police intercepted a car at the Rehtikhol checkpost. The cannabis, stuffed in gunny bags, was in a hidden chamber on the rear seat and inside the trunk of the car as well, the officer said.
