nA woman from Rajndandgaon in Chhattisgarh has alleged that a block Congress Committee General Secretary and his friend tried to sexually assault her.

She has filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, Rajnandgaon, and the Dongargaon women cell.

The victim alleged that Lalchand Sahu, who heads the Block Congress Committee Chhuriya, and his friend tried to assault her. When she resisted, they threatened to kill her.

They also tried to defame her saying they had a video clip showing her in a compromising position with others.

The Congress leader and his friend offered to provide her a ration card if she was ready to submit to them, the victim alleged.

The two men claimed they were rich and powerful and law enforcers cannot harm them.

The woman told the media that she was                continuously getting threats and was frightened. After consulting her husband, she lodged a complaint with the Dongargaon police station and woman police station and also complained to the Superintendent of Police.

Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shukla told The Pioneer that he had received complaints from both sides. "I have told SHO Dongargaon to carry out an impartial probe."

A FIR will be registered under IPC section 509 (using word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), the officer added.
