Staff Reporter

Several parts of the State including the city received light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers late on Sunday evening causing minimum temperature to drop.

“Upper-air cyclonic circulation has formed over East Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh causing rainfall,” said Director of State Meteorological Department Ml Sahu. Several parts of the city are likely to experience more rainfall on Monday, Sahu said. The total rainfall received and dip in minimum temperature had not been recorded until filing of this report.

The minimum temperature in Raipur on Sunday afternoon was 19.6 degrees Celcius and the maximum was around 32 degrees Celcius. Hail is usually expected in the month of February, however, no such incidence was reported from the State by Sunday night, Sahu said. Power outages were reported from various areas in the city caused by the rainfall and wind. The rainfall began at around 7.30 pm and continued for over an hour. Thunders were also reported in the city.
