Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi reaffirmed his stand over opposing the construction of Baruka-Pairi high dam in the district. “I firmly oppose the construction of Baruka-Pairi high dam. I will support people against the dam and will not allow it to be constructed in any condition,” Jogi said while addressing a press conference here on Friday.

Targetting the State Government, he said, : ‘Ruling BJP regime had betrayed farmers in Chhattisgarh and has not provided bonus or purchased paddy on increased support price.’ Over the State Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department scam, Jogi opined that it was scam over Rs3 lakh crore and action have been taken against only few lower level officers. “Such a huge scam is not possible without involvement of higher officers and State agency is incapable of investigating such cases,” Jogi said and reiterated Congress party’s demand of probing the case by a Special Investigating Team (SIT). With each passing day new scam is surfacing, he said. According to Jogi, it was correct that has Congress had become weak in the Centre but the party is united and moving ahead together.

“For the first time during the past 130 years, we have weakened at the Centre. However in present circumstances only Congress can take nation towards development,” he remarked. Commenting over the land Acquisition Bill pending in the Parliament, the former Chief Minister said if the bill is passed then it will ruin farmers and would only benefit industrialists.
