Independent legislator Dr Vimal Chopda on Wednesday demanded to know in the Chhattisgarh Assembly from the State Government why holding of the National Music Festival had been discontinued at the venue of the ancient Buddhist archaeological site of Sirpur in Mahasamund district of the State.
He said that music festivals are being held regularly in Mainpat, Barsur and Kabirdham regions of the State but not is Sirpur.
Replying to the query, Culture and Tourism Minister Dayaldas Baghel said that the festival at Sirpur had been discontinued due to budget constraints. The MlA asked whether the Government will hold the festival this year or notIJ
To this, the Minister replied that archaeological survey work is going on in Sirpur which is one of the reasons which prevented the Government from using the site for holding the music festival.
“This year (2017) we will consider holding the festival at the site”, Baghel said.
In another question, Chopda demanded that the blood banks of Government hospitals should also supply blood to the private hospitals.
To this, Health Minister Ajay Chandrakar replied that , in principle, the demand can be considered for finding a solution.
