Wanted Maoist held in Kondagaon

Making another dent in red-movement, a police team on Wednesday nabbed a hardcore Naxal who carries a cash reward on his head in insurgency-hit Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

Based on intelligence inputs, security personnel have arrested the rebel identified as Ajit Netam alias Sondhar Netam (20) from a weekly market falling under limits of Dhanora police station during morning hours, said Kondagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) J S Vetti, adding that the cadre was carrying cash bounty of Rs 2 lakh on his

head.

The 20-year-old cadre of the banned organisation was an active member of platoon number-17 under North Bastar Division, added Vetti.

According to him, after being inducted into the outlawed organisation, the arrested rebel was in close touch with some prominent Naxal commanders including Kamlesh, Sarita, Mangesh, Kosa, Phoolsingh and few

others.

He was involved in numerous Maoist ploys, including looting ballot box during Panchayat election, targeting a police patrolling team in the region in 2014 and

others. Several warrants were pending against him in different police stations of the district.

“Police have produced Korram in a local court,” Vetti said.
