After failing to get local roads repaired, at least five thousand voters in Maoist hit Bastar district Monday said they have decided to boycott the ensuing general election.

The residents of Koleng and Chindgur gram panchayats came to the district headquarters town of Jagdalpur and submitted a memorandum to the additional collector in this regard.

The local Sarpanch said people of the region have been asking the authorities to repair the road for past over a decade. As a result the residents have been facing difficulty in communication. Koleng and Chindgur have a population of about seven thousands and five thousands of them are voters.

There was no forum left, where people have not gone with their grievances but nothing has been done yet, he said. The area comes under Jagdalpur assembly constituency and Santosh Bafna of Bharatiya Janata party is representing the area in the assembly.

Earlier about three thousands voters of three panchayats under Chitrakoot assembly area had also announced to boycott the poll seeking repairing of roads in their regions.
