Staff Reporter

To press for their demand for getting the damaged road repaired, the residents of Dedary village blocked transportation of coal on Bishrampur-Rehar Gayatri road for about four hours.

The protesters also raised slogans and staged demonstration against the South Easter Coalfields limited (SECl) management.

According to the villagers, the road was to be constructed in the year 2014, but the work was left incomplete by the contractor and about 700 meter long road could not be constructed.

According to sources, under the leadership of the Sarpanch, the villagers shouted slogans against SECl management from 7am to 11 am and blocked transportation of coal for 4 hours. On getting information the officers of SECl, including GM Operations VS Seth, assistant regional manager HS Madan, A Patil and regional security officer DK Singh reached the spot and assured the villagers to complete construction of the road. But the villagers did not listen to them and asked for a written assurance from the management.

Sub divisional magistrate JR Bhagat and Naib Tehsildar obtained a written assurance from the SECl management that the road construction work would be started within 7 days. Then only the villagers ended their demonstration.
