Durg BJP MP Vijay Baghel has denied the allegations raised by the Congress against him on Thursday accusing him of holding more land than what was shown in the election affidavit.

Baghel told the The Pioneer that after the death of his mother, his name was registered the first in the loan book and other records as he was the eldest member of the family. The names of his relatives came later.

There is no forgery and the allegations are baseless. Based on the earning, the complete details have been filed in the Income Tax returns, he said.

Also, in the election affidavit there is no column to file details of the combined assets of a joint family. He filed details of his own family members as per the basic details sought.

He said: “It is a conspiracy to malign my image and an act of character assassination. I will consult my lawyers and take legal action.”
