Former Minister and senior Congress leader Vidhan Mishra has taken strong exception to the move by the party High Command to deny ticket to him and met party Chief Charan Das Mahant to express his displeasure.
Mishra is the State General Secretary of the Congress and most of the senior party leaders had reportedly assured him that he will be given ticket to contest the Assembly election from Dharseewa constituency. Mishra had reportedly made elaborate preparation and his supporters had already started campaigns for him. Sources said his supporters who plan to stage protest were building pressure on Mishra to contest the election as an independent.
The former Minister said he was discussing with the party workers. Mishra said he will take appropriate decision after holding talks with his supporters. Chandra Sekhar Shukla, another strong contender of the Congress ticket has made up his mind to contest the election as an independent, one of his supporters said. He has also obtained the nomination papers, the supporter said.
Interestingly the Congress has given ticket to Anita Sharma, the widow of senior Congress leader Yogendra Sharma who was killed in the Maoist attack at Jiram valley. The supporter said, the Congress should have rehabilitated Sharma by making her the chair person of some national level corporation instead of providing her party ticket.
