Three railway stations -- Bhatapara, Bhilai Power House and Tilda -- in the South East Central Railway (SECR) in Bilaspur Zone have been included in the installation of Video Surveillance System (VSS) project under the Nibhaya Fund.

RailTel, a mini ratna Central government public sector unit under the Railway Ministry, will implement the project, a railway official communication said on Wednesday.

Under the first phase, the 756 major stations of          category A1, B and C are likely to be completed by January 2023. The remaining stations will be covered in Phase 2. The key focus is security and protection of the passengers.

The VSS system will be Internet Protocol (IP) based and will have a network of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

The feeds from the CCTV cameras will be       displayed not only at local Railway Protection Force (RPF) posts but also in     centralized CCTV control rooms at divisional and zonal levels. It is for three levels of monitoring.

CCTV cameras with face recognition technology will be installed at the waiting halls, reservation counters, parking areas, the main entrance-exit, platforms, foot-over bridges, booking office and other railway premises.
