Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday told Mayors and Municipal Commissioners to use the Mayors’ and Corporators’ funds to arrest the spread of Covid-19.

He also gave immediate approval to build electric crematoriums following demands from the municipal bodies.

Baghel addressed a meeting with office bearers of urban bodies and reviewed the arrangements by them to contain the Covid virus.

Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo, Urban Administration Minister Shiv Kumar Daharia, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain as well as Mayors and Municipal Commissioners were present at the meeting. The Chief Minister underlined the need to trace and test labourers coming to the city limits from outside the state.

Corona testing teams must be deployed at each railway station, bus stand and state border to screen the incoming travellers, he said.

Baghel added that from now onwards Remdesivir injection would be made available to hospitals and not to medical shops.

Amid rising Covid-19 cases across the country, he told officials to ensure strict adherence to all preventive measures and guidelines to check the infection.
