Chhattisgarh has been ranked in fourth position among the states with the lowest unemployment rate in the country. The present unemployment rate is 2.1 percent, says a Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) report on Thursday.

The CMIE data is based on a study conducted in December 2021. It states that the unemployment rate in the country reached 7.7 percent, with urban unemployment of 9.1 and rural unemployment rate of 7.1 percent, an official communication said.

The unemployment rate in the country was 6.52 percent as of January 2021 last year, under which urban unemployment rate was 8.9 and rural unemployment rate 5.81 percent.

Karnataka has the lowest unemployment rate (1.4 percent) whereas Haryana has the highest (34.1 percent). Gujarat and Odisha hold the second rank with 1.6 percent.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel termed the achievement due to the effective and credible implementation of the ‘Chhattisgarh Model of Development’.
